Thank You Raymond:

With a lot of help from some friends we will get these RAY/RAE/REA/RHEA/WRAY Virginia Families Genealogies untangled.

When I added the "Joseph RAY Notes" to the John RAY/RHEA m Hannah HASTY - County Roscommon, Ireland & Family Posting, I did so in the hopes - You, Carl and others would come forward to clarify the early Washington Co., VA., RAY Genealogies.

The Book: Ray-Rhea a Family Book of History and Genealogy for Rhea and Related Families by Joseph C. RHEA, Jr., {Review by Don RHEA - Rootsweb 0888121389} identifies:

Joseph C. RAY b ca 1746, Ireland, "Son of John RAY m Hannah HASTY", whose first documentation in Washington Co., VA was on the 17th August 1802, when he bought a farm.

He is not of the same family as:

Joseph RAY, "Killed by Indians prior to the 19th of May, 1783" Washington Co., VA.

Please See Posting #11619 for the deposition of "Joseph RAY's Widow", of Madison Co., KY., and the deposition of John RAY, Clermont Co., Ohio, "Son of Joseph RAY".

ITEM: Further Location Documentation shows:

1782 Washington Co., VA Personal Property Tax List of Major Mastin's Precinct

RAY, Joseph - 1 Tithe - 3 Horses - 16 Cattle.

Again - "My Thank You"

Lois
