Doug: I forgot to add there are only to sets of ray familys in pike co that I know of, there is the brushy cr ray family who settled in ky about 1828, and there is mine who settled in pike co in 1825, in about 1828 james ray walked all the way from north carolina at about 19yrs old with his cattle and horses and married polly (mary) mainard and started the brushy cr pay family and in 1825 john watson ray sr and john watson ray jr settled on robinson cr and john jr started the robinson cr ray family in 1834 when he married rebecca tackett, do either of these sound familiar, I was born in pikeville and decend from the john watson ray line, a lot of the rays living in and around pikeville come from my line, my father told me we were related to the brushy cr branch of the ray family also, besides about half the whole county, does any of this sound familiar.....jim
