Samuel Ray b. 13 July 1776, Maryland, m. 4 Nov 1807 in Washington Co, KY to Rosanna Everhart, d/o Martin Everhart. Had children: Mary Ray, Daniel Ray, Eliza Ray, Martha Gray, Sarah Ray Finley, Martin E. Ray, and George W. Ray. This Samuel Ray was a son of Joseph Ray, Sr. and Mary Shekell Ray who moved to Washington County, KY in 1796 from Anne Arundel County, MD.
At the time of his death between 1853 and 1860 in Marion County, KY Samuel Ray owned land in both Marion County and Hickman County, KY and provided for grandchildren of his deceased ehildren. The grandchildren mentioned in his will were: Lewis Martin, s/o Martin E. Ray; Samuel R. Finley and Mary Finley (who later m. Isaac Burd), chn of Sarah Ray and Nicholas R. Finley, as well as Rebecca Jane Ray, d/o George W. Ray. He left legacies to his living children as well. This Samuel Ray had three nephews who settled early in Hickman County, Ky-Stephen Ray (m. Susan Hundley, Dennis Ray (m. Nancy Hayes), and Samuel Ray (m. Susan Litsey), sons of his oldest brother,John Shekell Ray and his wife, Catherine Beard Ray.
