As you know my ancestor was George Wray who I believe was born in the 1740's. The first reference I can find about him was a deed where he and a Henry Yarbrough sold land in 1769 in Meherrin Parish in Brunswick co Va on Quarrel Creek or Quarrel Swamp in southeast Brunswick co Va just west of Southampton co Va at that time and just west of what is now Greenville co Va. His neighbors were the Kellys,Yarbroughs,Warrensand the Tatums. I found a record where Jesse Tatum bought 335 acres adj Kelly,WarrenmWray,Allen and Yarbrough 19 May 1757. George Wray bought his land in 1769. The neighbors were the same. The deed where Jesse Tatum bought land in 1757 makes reference to a neighbor named Wray but it does not say which Wray. Since George lived in the same area I think there is a good chance that if I could find which Wray is mentioned in the deed for Jesse Tatum in 1757 that there is a good chance I would know which Wray line my George was from. I know you are very good at finding deeds on the Library of Virginia site. I tried but I could not find it. If you have time would you mind seeing if you could find the deed for Jesse Tatum for 335 acres 19 May 1757 and see if it says which Wray was mentioned as a neighbor? Thanks,Ross
