Zella: Your my first cousin, my name is james lee ray, the son of your uncal edward lee ray b. jan. 20, 1914 in floyd co ky, died feb. 1, 1990 in martin ky, I don't have much on grandma lena she passed away about 1925, I do know her family was from johnson co ky, but grandpa's mother and father were william varn ray b. 1844 pike co ky, passed away about 1920, he was a son of john watson ray jr b. 1806 in what is now scott co va, john jr's parents were john watson ray sr b. about 1770 in amherst co va and rutha robertson born about 1770 in amherst co va, now for the grandmothers, william varn's wife was cathrine jones, her family was cherokee/white mixed, she was 17yrs old when she married our first greatgrandfather william varn ray in april of 1872 at her brothers house (william was 28yrs old), william's mother was rebecca tackett, daughter of frances tackett and patsy winthorp (I'm not real sure of the last name it could be walthorp), john watson ray jr's mother was rutha robertson, her parents were arthut robertson and mildred (unknown), back to grandpa henry, he was born in virgie ky jan. 15, 1882 and passed away aug. 5, 1956, a month before he died of TB me and 2 of my sisters spent a week at his home with him and his wife martha jane caudill, they had a daughter agnes jean, who was about 12yrs old, I was 9yrs old at the time, agnes jean would be a good source on grandpa also, his mother cathrine jones was the daughter of nathaniel teller (tiller) jones and and mary ann McCowan, nate's parents were john ray jones and satarie stanly, (said to be indians) john ray jone's parents were nathaniel teller (tiller) jones and nancy ray who were married nov. 5, 1794 in amherst co va, and john watson ray sr married rutha robertson dec. 16, 1791 in amherst co va.....in the ky death index there is another henry d. ray who passed away in 1967 so don't get him confused with our henry is name was henry donald ray..... I have documents and other info too much to post here, that I will get to you when I can my present job has me gone for long periods of times, but in 16mo. I'll be retired for good, I hope I've helped some....looking forward to getting to know you and any others in our family.....jim
