Thanks for; the information. I haven't done a lot of work on this site since they formed it. Years ago before there was an internet, I actually got copies of the warrants, certificates patents concerning our John Ray family fromm the KY Land Office, the surveys and patents both, using the Joan E. Brookes-Smith's Master Index of Virginia Surveys and Grants, 1774-1791. Copies of the warrtants and certificates could then be ordered through through the KY Historical SocietyVA index, wherein are listed all the lands originally part of VA.. that were then part of Kentucky after statehood. I understand this Land Office site is wonderful and I should look into it again. Thanks for the directions. Being tech challenged, this may encourage me to use this site more now.

Still wondering though about your sources for the Lancashire migration. Through records received from the Maryland Archives, I have traced this family back to William Ray who first got his land in 1698 from a Beall. There is one William Ray who had will probated in P.G. Co., MD 1737, who listed eight children in his will. His son, William whose will probated 1760 in Frederick Co., MD lists 11 chldren, one of whom was William, 1705-1782, whose will was probated in A.A. Co., MD, listing four boys by name, one daughter unnamed, but with the settlement revealed her name was Ann. These Williams belong in our family, and tradition says the immigrant, whom older researchers believe may be the William who d. in 1737 may have come from Lancashire County, England. "Tradition" is not documentation and this is why I'm asking for your source. Also the church records show that William Ray b. 1705 was born in Maryland of William and Elizabeth Ray (no maiden name known for Elizabeth. I recorded in my first book her name to be Ann, but have found since that this was in error. Their children are listed in Baptismal Records of St. Barnabas, Prince George Co., MD. Some older searchers believed there to have been 11 children, but the church records show only 9: William, John, Luke, Margaret, Elizabeth, Ellinor, Mary, Rebecca, and Thomas.

Do you have experience with internet site for Maryland? I have done so much work through correspondence with the Archives, and have shied away from the internet site.
