Greetings,
My name is Gary Ray Smith and my Father, Charlie Ray Smith. I've discovered that living among my family in Chatham Co. there were some Rays in both Moore and Chatham counties just as there were Smiths. There seem to have been more than a couple of allied families over time but Ray must have been one of them.
I've just recently discovered on a map of Virginia, dated 1751, that a Smith home/plantation was only two creeks away from a Col. Ray and wonder if any here was aware of this? The map is a 4Mb one but anyone can download it. Will return with the URL.
