Good Morning Auther -

Here I sit amongst a stack of paper newly scanned from the internet on Your Family and all I can say is - WOW!?!

They Really Got Around.

Census Records are quite often hard to read and your John LEVINGSTON's 1850 is no exception.

1850 Federal Census Warren, Bradley Co., Arkansas

John LEVINGSTON - M - Age 57 - b North Carolina {b ca 1793}

Elenor LEVINGSTON - F - Age 12 - b North Carolina

Alexander LEVINGSTON - M - Age 19 - b North Carolina

COMMENT: A Residence in North Carolina in 1830 is shown for the above. An 1830 North Carolina Census Record for a John LEVINGSTON/LIVINGSTON would be helpful.

John LEVINGSTON was b in 1793, so he would show as 30/40 in the Census of 1830.

There are the following John LEVINGSTON/LIVINGSTON's shown in the 1830 North Carolina Federal Census Records:

LEVINGSTON, John, Anson, North Carolina

LEVINGSTON, John W., Brunswick, North Carolina

LEVINGSTON, John, Buncombe, North Carolina

LIVINGSTON, John, East of Pee Dee and Yadkin River, Montgomery, North Carolina

LIVINGSTON,John, Moore, North Carolina

LIVINGSTON, John W., New Hanover, North Carolina

Continuing the 1850 Census

Mary LEVINGSTON - F - Age 18 - b South Carolina

Sarah LEVINGSTON - F - Age 17 - b South Carolina

Hugh LIVINGSTON - M - Age 14 - b South Carolina

Ellen LIVINGSTON - F - Age 11 - b Arkansas

COMMENT: The record shows Ellen was b ca 1839 so the Family Census Record should show in the 1840 Arkansas Federal Census. I did not check those records.

However, since John is not shown with a wife in the 1850 Census one should show in 1840 as the 1850 Census shows:

Celia LIVINGSTON - F - Age 8 b Arkansas

Reecy LIVINGSTON - F - Age 7 b Arkansas

Martha E. LIVINGSTON - F - Age 3 - b Arkansas

Also shown on the Census is:

Ebenezer MASSEY - M - Age 24 - House Carpentry - b North Carolina

COMMENT: Ebenezer was b ca 1826 so it would be interesting to know if any of the John LEVINGSTON/LIVINGSTON's on the 1830 North Carolina Census Records lived near a MASSEY Family.

One of the 1860 Warren Township, Bradley Co., Arkansas Census Record was stunning!!!

Household #375

Sarah A. LIVINGSTON F - Age 24 - "Safety Valve" - b North Carolina

Elenor LIVINGSTON F - Age 19 - b Alabama

Celia LIVINGSTON F - Age 17 - b Arkansas

Resa LIVINGSTON F - Age 14 - b Arkansas

COMMENT: I have never seen the term "Safety Valve" used as the occupation of the Head of a Household before!!!!!

I did much the same research on the 1860 RAY Family Census which shows:

Household #349

James RAY - M - Age 54 - b North Carolina
Mary RAY - F - Age 40 - b Georgia
Josephine RAY - F - Age 4 - b Arkansas

Household #348 - Just above James & Mary is:

William RAY - M - Age 27 - b Tennessee

Household #351

John RAY - M - Age 37 - b Virginia

Household #679

James RAY - M - Age 24 - b Georgia

That Migratory Trail for the James & Mary RAY Household #349 may be from North Carolina thru Georgia to Arkansas.

Once again - all I can say is - WOW!

Lois
