during my travels thru the census, I found your Philip Ralph in 1860 Steubenville, Ohio. He is listed with Alice age 82 (his mother, I presume) and an Elizabeth MELVILLE (a sister?), several of her children,John 23, Leticia 16, Samuel 17,Mary 12 and Martin Ralph age 12.
All the children were born in PA according to census. I tried to look back at PA, but could not find a census for 1850. I did find a John Ralph on census for 1820 Philadelphia, PA "lower Dublin" whatever that means.
I am particularly interested in Elizabeth Melville. If, indeed she is a widowed sister or relation to your Philip, do you know to whom she was married, or anything about her?
