Hi again Dawn,
that sentence reads "At that time I was 34 years of age, not in very strong health and had lost all my money except just enough to pay for my passage and provide a comfortable outfit."

My copy of Catherine Ralfe's memoirs is probably a copy of a copy of a copy. It comprises 41 pages (A4 size) crammed top to bottom with double-spaced typing done on a clunky old manual typewriter. I have no idea who typed it up.

I'm sure your relatives in Aussie and South Africa will appreciate having their own copies of this remarkable memoir.

I am surprised that I have never come across any genealogical postings from Ralfe descendents in America or Canada. There must be some still living in that part of the world.

I see by your email address that you are a "kiwi" Ralfe. As you might have guessed from my postings, I am an ex-Taranakian-kiwi, who grew up in New Plymouth.

Cheers, Peter
