Hi Peter,
Would imagined that Catherine spoke the way she wrote.....
Amazing that she befriended your g.grandmother, and became lifelong friends. The details in her diary have been a tremendous help in our genealogy and filled out so many details. I have a few missing words when I translated her diary. There was a fold on the first page, and wondered if you had the "missing words" (I had lost all my money except just enough to pay my passage........... My parents etc.)
There is also the odd word I could not read in the balance of her diary.
Happy to send you via email what I have translated.
You might be interested to know that relatives in Australia and South Africa have been sent the diary. Catherine has left us such a treasure.
