Hi Jane,
I don't know whether this will help you but I have been tracing my Edgar relatives in Dumfries and have a James Edgar married Elizabeth May Rae born Park Village, Closeburn, from marriage cerificate her parents were William Rae and Mary Douglas, witness to the marriage was James Rae. James & Elizabeth came to South Australia in 1877. Hope this helps.
