Charles Rabe, b. 1837 in Germany, came to New Orleans in the 1850's where he had a son Charles, Jr. in 1859. Fought in Civil War for the South and was a POW. Married Lizzette Vorrath. After the war they went to NY and later to NJ. He was a fruit merchant at the Washington Market in NYC. Died in 1890. Children Etta, Robert, Hattie, Stacy, George, Lulu, Lilly. Many remained in Hudson County, NJ.
May have had brother August who was in N. O. at same time.
