Hi,
The spelling of RABE is found in old province of Hannover and up in Mecklemburg-Schwerin. The spelling of RAABE I would think it would be associated with the region of border of Westphalia and The Netherlands. The Dutch use a lot of double vowels especially AA. Do you have any clue as to when your Rabe came over?? Check the multi-volume set "Germans to America" Gives all pertinent information of ship and the list of passengers, ages, port of debarkation and port of entry with dates. You may find the person actually traveling with others of the same area, Some relatives. If you have more questions please write direct by clicking on my name to get address.
