Hi cousin Jan, Putting your two posts together, it seems our families join at your 2nd generation John Pennell and Eleanor Smith. Apparently my grandmother missed a generation of Pennells, because she had Eunice Pennell Bullock as a daughter of John Pennell vice grand daughter. That casts much doubt on the Normandy, France origination, but that question should be answerable. If I solve that one I'll let you know. The fultonhistory search engine is hard to master, but if you do a search for "Eunice Pennell" with fuzzy set at 0, you'll get one hit - the Jefferson County Journal obit. The name of the deceased and of her parent is garbaged up, but the rest is clear - it's not a pdf file. I would copy and post it as you requested, but there must be a trick to that - I can't figure out how to paste. There is an Obit on Rufus & Eunice Van Wormer's son John R. in the Oct 27, 1909 Watertown Daily Times. It has some interesting family history. You can get to it by searching for "John Rufus" with fuzzy set at 1. You'll get 35 hits and the obit will be # 23. Thanks for helping with my John Pennell search.
