Mentions of Pennell in Ireland in the Archives of Northern Ireland found in 1996.
Penders Census of Ireland c. 1669, ed by Seamus Pender MA.,
p.87, Ballyricard, where I have found the PENNELL name, is listed as Ballyriccart, parish of Cumber, Castrellreagh barrony, Co, Downe.
It indicates that there were 18 people living there in 1659,12 Eng & Scot and 6 Irish.

includes as follows:#176 & 177,
Wm PENNELL taxedL5,6s & L13,10 also in Ballyricardbeg
Wm PENNELL, taxed l10,1s

Griffith's Valuation, Antrim Co, Larne,p.85,Ballrickardbeg, Ord
S.40,#26A-F,sub B, sub ab, William PENNELL had approximately 25 acres of land total valuation of rateable property was L16/10. He eased a house to an Anne Carmichael and had one house unoccupied, I can't tell if he lived there or not.. p.90, Ballynure parish,
p.111, Parish of island Magee, Ballyprior beg, ord s 41, James MC CLELLAND and Edward PENNELL both leased Houses from Malcolm Mc Neil who seems tohave been the Steward for Charles P. Leslie James also leased a forge and it was valued at L15, while Edward's house was L10.
