My mother's maiden name was Pennell. Included in a genealogical study relatives completed in 1987 is the following reference to Mt. Pennell:
"Mt. Pennell, in the Henry Mountains of Utah, Garfield County, near the Colorado River. Pennell Peak is named in honor of Joseph Pennell, the world famous artist, who wanted to work for the government during the survey of the area, but was refused employment."
