Thanks for your reply. John Pace of the Pace Soc listed the following as the most likely linage of John the tory in the winter 2009 bulleton.

a1-2 John b abt. 1735 Va m Sarah (moved to Edgecombe Co, NC then to Surry Co at start of Revolution)

a1-3 Richard d. Edgecombe, Co m Elizabeth

b Thomas

c John m Elizabeth (moved to Bertie Co NC

d James (moved to Brunswick Va

e Richard III m Rebecca (moved to Bertie Co, NC

the dates and dna certainly support this linage for John the tory
