This is not in Bruce Howard's book.
I think the Stephen Pace (near John Pace) is the son of John & Sarah Burge Pace.
But who are the two John Paces? Stephen's father John (wife Sarah Burge) had lived in Surrey Co. NC but died in 1781 at the Battle of Shallow Ford.
