My partner is an O'Kane descended directly from the glenariff clan of Antrim. We are only today starting to look up his ancestry. As far as he can remember. His father John joseph patrick O'kane (son of Danny O'Kane no further details) came from and was born in Glenariff circa 1930. Moved to Redcar in then Yorkshire England. (Now Cleveland) Married Gwendolin Bushby (year of birth unknown) circa 1949 in Redcar. Children John Thomas Joseph O'kane (1949 - ) Two daughters. Debbie (1970 - ) Mandy (1972 - ) Evone o'kane (born circa 1951. died of menengitis at around 6 month - 1 year old) Patricia o'kane (details not available as no permission to post obtained) A cousin to his either his father or his grandfather was known to have 21 surviving children and numerous infant death / miscarried children by the same wife. They visited this family in approx 1955 in Glenariff / waterfoot and there was a 'clan house' on a smallholding / farm under the cliffs which had its own small stream running through it. We are planning to visit Glenariff in the future and would love to make contact with his cousins in Glenariff, He is sure that at least some of them would be old enough to remember their visit there in approx 1955 Any further details that anyone can provide would be fantastic as this is basically all the details we have up to now.
