Nicholas Nybyer listed in the 1850 Census of Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Ohio was actually Johann Nicolaus Neubauer, born 1812 in France. He was married to Catharina Würtz in France in 1839. They had the following children all born in France: Sophie Magdalena born 1839; Catharina Magdalena born 1841; Catharina born 1843; Nicholas born 1846 and died the same year in France. Sophie married 1859 in Columbus, Ohio to George Leonard Schmutzer; Catharina Magdalena married 1863 to Christian Benninghoff; and Catharina may be the same Catharina Neubauer who married in 1865 to John B. Welborn or Wilburn. I am trying to put the American part of the genealogy together for this particular branch of the Neubauer family. I do have many documents to prove their ancestry back in time in France. I would like to make contact with any descendants who can provide information which you may know or may believe could be descended from this particular family. John V. Reeb
