German and French are neighboring lands with history with each other and between each other. Part of France was once German owned and part of what we now call Germany was at lesat once in history taken in part by the Emperor of France. So no it is not crazy that a person who may call him/her self German marry some one who calles their self Frencn and move to America. If you think that is crazy then you would probably be shocked at some of the stories of many of the immigrants who have come into this country in the last 100 years. I know about a family of Neubauer whose name got changed to Newfarmer which is the way Neubauer is pronunced as translated to English. Countries are different due to different cultures, different histories and different ways of thinking. John V. Reeb
