Hi Judy,
I don't have all the information pieced together for this family yet, but they started in MN first (married in Litchfield MN, had first few children at Watkins, MN), and then moved to ND. Elizabeth died (at a young age) in ND, and at some point after that John moved to Montana and ran a saloon. I don't know how old the children were when he left, or who cared for them. Toward the end of John Neubauer's life, he moved back to MN and lived with his daughter Josephine, your relation. John and Elizabeth are my own Great-Great Grandparents, so I am still working to fill in all the gaps. I am wondering if Josephine's descendants perhaps have letters or information on what happened during those Montana years??
