Meadows family in Buncombe Co. North Carolina

I looking for information on William Meadows who md Louisa Davis, as I located this family in the 1850 US Census in Buncombe Co. In the 1860 Census the same William is listed without a wife and the same children, however in the 1870 census William is listed with wife Sarah and Margaret and Milton, which would have been the children he had with Louisa.
In 1880 Wm and Sarah are listed in the census with children Elbirtha, Andrew, Dellah.
I believe this is the same Wm. in all of the census with two different wives.
Does anyone know Sarah's maiden name.
Also the family has heard through family stories that the family is part Native American probably Cherokee, does anyone know if this is true.
I would appreciate any information or help that anyone is willing to share.
Please contact me at

Thanks,
Sharon
