Hi Sylvia:
Thanks for responding to my query. I am a direct descendant of Abner MEAD b. ca. 1745 and who married Mercy HAZEN. I am not sure where Abner was born. It could be Putnam Co.,NY, Conn. or Westchester Co., NY. He was in the town of Roxbury by 1800.
I am also helping someone with a Nathaniel Mead b.ca. 1777 in Westchester Co., NY. He was in the town of Roxbury, Delaware Co., NY between 1800-1820.
We are also researching a David b. ca. 1757, Joseph b. ca. 1753, and James Mead b. ca. 1752 that were in Delaware Co., NY at some point in the late 1700's to early 1800's.
A friend of mine who I am helping with his Nathaniel Mead (see above) ancestry is in the process of compiling info on the early Meads of Delaware Co., NY that show up on the 1790-1840 censuses.
What MEAD are you connected to in Delaware Co., NY? I am willing to share what info I have on the MEADs as I have compiled quite a large MEAD database of the MEADs in Greenwich, CT, and their descendants. So I'll wait to see what MEAD family you relate to in Delaware Co.,NY.
