Thanks so much Jim for all that great infomation on Daniel MEAD's family of Pawling, Dutchess Co., NY. I really appreciated it! I have some comments and questions: 1. Where did you find the info about that there was a Daniel MEAD (b. ca. 1743)who enlisted in Capt. DuBois' Co. on 4/22/1760? 2. I have that there was a Daniel MEAD b. ca. 1690 and a Joseph MEAD b. ca. 1694 and they were both sons of Elisha MEAD b.ca. 1661. I believe this Daniel (above)who was b. ca. 1743 must of been either a grandson and not a son of either Daniel b. ca.1690 or his brother Joseph b. ca. 1694. It would be hard to believe that he was a son because Daniel b. ca. 1690 and Joseph b. ca. 1694 would of been about 50 yrs. old, unless either one married someone else and either one had children at a later age and a younger spouse. I believe the Daniel MEED who was listed on the tax list for Beekman in 1743/44 was probably the father of Daniel b. ca. 1743 and was b. ca. 1720. I also believe that the Joseph who was on the 1742 tax list for the Southern Precinct, Dutchess Co., NY must be either the son of either the Daniel MEAD b. ca. 1690 or his brother Joseph b. ca. 1694. I believe he is the son of Joseph and was b. ca. 1718. 3. Did you find a copy of the book entitled "Ancestry of Margaret (Fritchey) Trahan" by Dr. John A. Fritchey II in a library? 4. Do you know the real first name for this "Ox" MEAD that you spoke of as being a descendant of Moses MEAD? 5. It is very interesting about that the MEADs may of intermarried into the local Native Americans. 6. I would very much be interested in the date of births for each of Daniel MEAD's (Pawling) grandchildren. 7. Did Francis C. MEAD have other children other than what you have given? Was there a Mercy who married an Amasa Hall, a David who married a Eunice Hall and an Abner? 8. Did Daniel MEAD (Pawling)b. ca. 1743 have a son by the name of Amos? 9. Did Moses MEAD, son of Daniel (Pawling)b. 1743 have a son by the name of David? 10. There is a Barsheba (Bathsheba), wife of a Daniel Mead, buried in St. Luke's Churchyard, Matteawan (Beacon), Fishkill who died 12/26/1837 at age 82-6-21 (b. ca. 1755). Could she of been a wife of Daniel Mead b. ca. 1743? She would of only been 13 yrs. old to have been the mother of Nathaniel MEAD b. 1768, which seems highly unlikely unless the her tombstone inscriptions were read incorrectly. Maybe there was another Daniel MEAD (other than the one b.ca. 1743 or 1774) living in Dutchess Co., NY and was missed on the 1790 census. I have been trying to find out who the parents of my Abner MEAD b. ca. 1745 are for several years now. Abner supposedly married a Mercy HAZEN b. ca. 1747 and they were m. about 1767 probably in Dutchess Co., NY. He first shows up on the 1770 tax list for the Southern Precinct in Dutchess Co., NY. Their children were Abner, Sarah, Ruth, David, Caleb, James, Martha, Amos, Eli, and Eleazer. I believe that Abner's father may be Joseph MEAD b. ca. 1718 (mentioned in no.2 above) and was on the 1742 tax list for the Southern Precinct, Dutchess Co., NY. Abner's son Caleb and Abner's dau. Sarah both had sons named Daniel and Joseph. Abner's daughter dau. Ruth had a son named Daniel and Abner's dau. Martha had a son named Joseph. You would of thought if Abner's father was Joseph that he would of named a son Joseph. Abner's sons Caleb and Amos both moved to Abington, Luzerne Co. PA by 1830 and then they were both in Burlington, Bradford Co., PA in 1840. You had mentioned that Daniel MEAD's son Francis C. MEAD was in Burlington by 1850, which was interesting. I believe there may be a connection between my Abner Mead family and your Daniel Mead family. What do you think?
