After posting my message, I searched further and found that I had incorrect information in my notes. My grandfather George Durin Mead's mother was Ida Smee (not Snead as I had previously thought). I had her father's name as Israel Snead, but it looks like the Sneads are probably not a part of George's maternal line. I am positive however that there is an Israel Snead in the line somewhere, and since it is not in his mother's line, it must be in his father's. John Dayton Mead was born 1884, and his father Roy Mead would have been born around 1860, but I don't know what Roy's wife's name was. There is a good chance that her father was Israel Snead, putting his date of birth around 1830. The other possibility, would be for Roy Mead's mother having a father named Israel Snead. This would put the date of his birth around 1800. I will continue searching, and am looking forward to any more information you have also.
