I am not researching this family, just entering information from the book "Pioneers of Old Monocacy" by Tracey & Dern:
"In 1750 John Douthet conveyed this land to Alexander MacKeen, who had it enlarged by a resurvey and then sold it in 1770 to James Marshall of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. (Apparently this was near the Middle Creek and Toms Creek, not far from the Pennsylvania state line.)
"The ubiquitous Daniel Dulany was also active in the Flat Run area. He had 30 acres called 'Addition,' surveyed on November 10, 1742, beginning '20 perches from a draught of Flat Run, being a draught of Toms Creek.' This he assigned in 1750 to Alexander McKeen who had it enlarged by means of a resurvey. On March 11, 1764 McKeen conveyed two acres to Samuel Carrieck, William Shields, William Porter, William Cochran, Jr. and Alexander McKeen, Jr., who had been appointed 'by the Presbyterian Congregation at Toms Creek and a committee of the said community.' These two acres began 'at an oak on the side of a ridge about N80 degrees E 46 perches distant from a natural spring contegous to said McKean's dwelling.'
