Hi, Missy,
Finally got back to the genealogy of John Thompson and found the wealth of information you posted.

My John is the son born 20 May 1856 in Bath to John and Ada Thompson. The story is that he was raised by an uncle in Genesee, Potter after the age of two. Haven't been able to find him in Potter Co PA. Somehow he ended up in Stromsburg, Nebraska (1880 & 1890 Census)where he met Elizabeth Williams. They had 5 children and moved to Fort Collins Colorado in 1910. He died 11 Apr 1948. I have all the info about the rest of his children, etc. Am glad to hear about the rest of his siblings. There was only one sibling alive that we knew of when he died... Phebe Thompson Van Gelder of Hornell, NY. She is buried there with her daughter by a first marriage, Grace Rogers Perry. Grace had no children.
Believe it or not but I am going to NY on Monday (I live in Idaho.)for the express purpose of finding the Thompsons and other relatives. Wonder if his father John is buried around there. Will try the Urbana cemetery.

Any idea who would have adopted him?

Keep in touch.
Diana
