I have found a Walter Margeson listed as 3yr old son of John Margeson in the 1870 Census, Living in Green County NY.
John was listed as 53 years old, married to Elizabeth Margison 43,and 5 children--Lucy,Lewis, Eddie, Willie, Walter and Carrie. I have traced my line to Walter,Walter's son Ivan V Margison married to Rosina Mae Starbuck, and my father, Ivan S Margison. My father was born 5 months after his father died in 1917 and lived in Cairo NY. I am trying to verify our connection to this John Margeson of 1817 and prior to that
