From the booklet "Backroading through Cecil County, Maryland" by Nancy Sawin and Esther Perkins, 1977:
"Hopewell - The exact date of the building of this stone house on Hopewell Tract is unknown. It is known that Robert Mackey bought 180 acres in 1746 and his will dated 1772 mentions this home. It is large for the area, having five bays across the front. The face of the house is cut stone, but the sides are laid in rough rubble. A form of keystone is used above the windows." (Drawings of house)
"Little Elk Farm - .....the present owner, Richard (Tucker) Mackie is a direct descendant of Robert Mackie, a tanner by trade and an elder in Rock Church in 1746."
Another drawing - "This brick Victorian house was built in 1859 to replace an earlier one. It is part of the Tucker Mackie property."
