I am the granddaughter of A.Z. Litz, Sr. There seems to be a little confusion about his children. I don't know of any Laslo or Ammie Litz as posted previously. Here is the "straight skinny" on my aunts and uncles. My grandmother was Etta V. Stauber. The children are as follows: Anne,known to all as "Annie", Conrad, A.Z., Jr. Francis, Jacqueline Evangeline, Daisy Catherine,Loesch,or Lash, as Aunt Lash shortened the surname to "Lash" herself, and my mother Ethel Margaret, known to most everyone as "Snookie".
In addition, my grandfather's siblings were as follow: James Gordon Litz, Mary Katherine (Kate) Litz, John Linsay (Jim) Litz, Joseph Frank Litz, Gratton Alexander Litz, Peter Gose Litz, Nannie Litz, George William Litz, Samuel Thomas Litz, David Harold Litz, Moroni Orson (Roan) Litz, Elizabeth Emily Thompson Litz,and Sarah(Sallie) Ann Litz.
My grandfather whole name was Alma Zarahelma Litz. Quite a mouthful, so he settled for A.Z. and so did my Uncle A.Z. As a family, we are casual, humble folks. We all share a very dry wit, and most of us would be just as happy playing touch football or involved in some other group activity. We say what we mean, and mean what we say. If you ask the opinion of any member of this family, you will get it! We all felt a tremendous loss of self and identity when the A.Z. Litz home went out of our family's hands in the 1980's. A collective part of our "heart" is missing to this day! It's a remembrance like that of the Civil War: "Forget it, Hell"! My fondest memory of my Aunt Daisy was the day she revealed to me that "Blood is blood, and all the rest of the folk are just PEOPLE! As a family, we are dark, and either tall or stocky, depending on who you are talking to! We all share what is called "the Litz leg" (what a hoot!), but, it's true! The women of the family have great legs, and my boys have legs like "tree trunks". My oldest son David's face looks out at me from a portrait of the family that features John Tiffany Litz and Elisabeth Emily's fourteen children. Son David looks just like Uncle Jim Litz from the way his facial expression is to the way he holds his head. Son Stephen Litz is built exactly like A.Z., Sr., I am told by family members who are old enough to remember. My girls are not quite as "Litzy", however they have the family personality! I would love to hear from you Litzes out there. I just spoke with Anne Litz Rhinehart out in Alpine, Utah yesterday. Very rewarding to speak with the family who went West to follow the Mormon Church.
