Pamela,
Solomon Litz was my Great-great grandfather. He was born on May 17, 1819 in Wythe County, VA. He died during the Civil War, struck by lightning while sitting under a tree on September 3, 1864. He married Mary (Polly) Thomas on February 15, 1844 in Wythe County. 1850 Census shows Solomon as a farmer with Real Estate valued at $2500. His sisters, Elizabeth (age 45) and Rosannah (age 35) also lived with them.
Their children were:
1. James Pierson Litz--b. 3/24/1846 in Wythe County. He married America Wampler on 2/22/1878. d. 12/25/1928. This is my line and if you want additional info to the present day, let me know.
2. John Litz--b. 11/27/1844--died in Civil War
3. Frances Elizabeth (Fannie) Litz--b. 1848. Married Issac Pearson Buck on 12/17/1868. d. 1920
4. Emily Jane ("Emma) Litz--b. 5/6/1849 Married Hiram Litz. d. June 6, 1927.
5. Thomas P. Litz--b. 1851. d. 4/1854
6. David P. Litz--b. 5/13/1852. Married Emma L.? in 1880 in Parker, Turner, SD. d. 7/6/1933
7. Mitchell Ferguson Litz--b. 9/1/1854. Married (1)Mary Elizabeth Kegley in 1887 and (2)Julia Sult Cregger in 1904. d. 1934
8. Mary Arelia (Relia) Litz--g. 8/1/1856. Married Tom Steffey. d. 1940
9. Emma Jane Litz--b 2/24/1858. d. 10/20/1919
10. Albert Litz--b. 6/27/1859. Married Lena? d.?

I know that you have been researching the Kemp Thomas/Nancy Baber genealogy. Have you gotten anything new lately? Do you have any pictures of Polly Thomas or a description of her? Her son, James, was average in height and thin (about 145 lbs.) He had brown hair and blue eyes, had a beautiful voice and was very musical. He was an outstanding carpenter. He died of pneumonia. (My grandaddy told me about him (his grandfather) years ago and I wrote it down.) He is buried in Fairview Methodist Cemetery, Rural Retreat, VA.
Hope this helps in your research! Keep me in mind when you find new stuff on the Thomas side--thanks! Sharon
