7th Calvary K Co. Insignia

Looking through a box of family artifacts I found a 7th Calvary Cap Insignia with a K between the crossed sabers. I went to the library and found a book that contain a reprint of the Bismarck, D.T. July 6, 1876 “Tribune Extra” first account the the Custer Massacre. Listed as a casulty under Co. M was a Privt. Vetter which is my surname but the insignia could belong to my mother’s side of the family which would make either Printz or McPhearson. I would appreciate any help in trying to track down the owner of this insignia.
