I'm researching Jeremiah Scott LETTS (1829-1920) because he, his brother & father were in El Dorado co., CA during the California Gold Rush period & in the 1850 US Census, El Dorado co., CA where I live.

Found the following link on the internet re an 1877 washing machine patent you might get a "kick" viewing. He and his wife are credited with the invention. Shortcut to: http://www.lib.muohio.edu/epub/govlaw/FemInv/patgifs/197480/01.jpg

(copy/paste the shortcut into your address bar of internet browser.)

WOMEN INVENTORS INDEX - 1790-1895
Patent number: 197,480
INVENTORS NAMES Letts, Elizabeth W. ; Letts, Jeremiah S.
Improvement in dish cleaning machines
Ripon, WI Nov. 27, 1877

---------------------------
Jeremiah became a clergyman, and lived past ninety years of age. I can't find him in the 1900 US Census. If you know where he was, would appreciate the information. I only need the location. I did find him 1910 as a widower living in Stark Co., North Dakota with his daughter, her husband, Arhur B. Robinson's & their seven children.

Cheerio, Mary Ann (LETT) Jones, Placerville, El Dorado Co., CA
