Hope you don't mind my jumping in here. Mel Lett, the gentleman who made the post you are responding to is now deceased. I do not know where Mel obtained his information, but the information is available from several online sources. The information comes from an 86 page booklet written in 1988 by N M Pawlett and published by the Virginia Highway & Transportation Research project publication house. It's title is "Brunswick County Road Orders 1732-1746" The National Transportation Library describes it (in their online records resource section at http://ntlsearch.bts.gov/tris/record/tris/00478058.html) this way: The Albemarle County road history project established the feasibility of such studies of early road networks and their use in the environmental review process. This project, by gathering and publishing the early road orders of the vast parent counties, lays the foundation for research by local groups over a broad area of Virginia westward from the fall line to the mountains. More information, including the full list Mel copied here, can be found at: http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/online_reports/pdf/89-r1.pdf The little booklet is often found on sale on eBay and other auction houses and on geneology sites. The author has several similar titles listed at: http://ntlsearch.bts.gov/tris/search.do?new=&b1=9&f1=au&t1=Pawlett%2C+N+M&d=tr Hope this helps you with your line!
