Balaam Lett born 1 Feb 1798 GA;
married Sarah "Sally" Osborn (daughter of John Osborn and Nancy Robinson)

One of the last things Mel Lett asked me to do, before he died, was to help him create a timeline of the life of his ancestor, Balaam Lett, like the ones I do for my line. I had begun that process when Mel died. I encouraged him to email some of the rest of you with known connections and interests as well; I saw at least two notes where he did just that.

I intend to finish that project--for Mel, for his children should they ever take an interest in the family history, and for myself (my 3rd great-grandfather, Isham Lett, was Balam Lett's brother--there may be items of use to my line).

I have a LOT of information on Balaam already--military pension records, some census, a lot of church records, some interesting deeds, some photos etc, but who knows what I am missing that you may have?!? (and vice-versa, of course).

So... if you have any pictures, deeds, wills, census, letters, etc etc etc that mention Balaam Lett or directly concern him, please forward them to me in some form. Send me the URL if they are online, scan them and send them to me as an attachment (email me first to warm me), email me and I'll give you my slow mail address.

I need the best possible quality copies I can get so we can decipher everything. If you send census or city directory type info that includes the names of neighbors, please DO include the homes nearby--many of them will be known relatives (or even better-- relatives that we discover during this process and didn't know about before!).

After I have some time to correlate all the information, I will post a transcription of it here. I will of course make copies available to anyone who wishes to know more in the future.

Thanks,
Sherri
