Well here we go:
WE will start with John H. Reynolds
John H Reynolds married Minerva Thompson September 6,
1857 at Scott County, VA-he was 21, she 19 He was the
son of Henry and
Malinda (Rasnake) Reynolds, she was the daughter of
Crockett and Nancy (Fanning) Thompson. Book 2 Page 6
Line 2
On May 25th, 1870, John sued Minvera for divorce in
Scott County, Va. Chancery Order Book 2 page 255
On Nov 14, 1873 Henry Reynolds married Minervy Thompson
He was 63, she was 37, both said they were widowed. He
was born in Russell County, VA-she in Wythe County, VA.
Henry parents were given as Henry and Sarah Reynolds.
Book 2 Page 43 Line 109.
There are no wills listed for either Henry (1 or 2) or John at Scott County, Va. On one listing I have found (below)for Henry 2 and John they are reported as living and dieing in Admont, VA.

According to the family history in John Counts of Glade Hollow:

Page 19
Malinda Rasnake (b ca 1810) married Henry Reynolds (b ca 1810) of Scott County where they lived on a farm. On 11-01-1858 they conveyed to Jacob Rasnick of Lee County "their interest in a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Knox and State of Kentucky on the waters of Fighting Creek deeded to John Rasnick, Dec'd, from old Mr Hays." On 11-16-1855, a deed was recorded in Knox Co, Ky from Henry Reynolds and Malinda, his wife, to John T Rasnick for Malinda's interest in a tract of land on Fighting Creek (Knox Co Ky Records-1898.

Census Data by Mrs. R C Fitzgerald-1943
Children of Henry and Malinda (Rasnake) Reynolds:
John H (b ca 1837) (lived at Admont in 1898)
Elizabeth (b ca 1839)
Sarah A (b ca 1840) md ____ Wallen lived in Gate City, VA
Jacob (b ca 1843)
James (b ca 1845)
Noah (b ca 1848) Lived in Pattonsville in 1898
Louisa J (Jane?)(b ca 1852) Lived at Wise in 1898
William (b ca 1860)
Louisa (b ca 1862)

These census records show that Malinda was still alive in 1870. By the divorce records of John and Minerva and than the marriage records of Henry and Minerva, Malinda died around 1870. I looked in the 1880 census and did not find Henry, Minerva, or John. There is also no records in the 1900 census. In 1910 Minerva surfaces again in Pattonsville VA in the house next door to Dow Reynolds.

1860 Census
1789 Reynolds, John 23 M Blacksmith VA
Manerva A 22 F Spinster VA
Emma V 1 F VA
James N 7/12 M VA

There is no record of John or Minerva in 1870 under Reynolds
Have not checked under Thompson for Minerva. None of her children were married in 1870.
Also could not locate in 1880 census.

Now for my famuly history on Minerva. As I stated the last time, Minvera was remembered by Louisa lane Dulaney as a tall red haired lady that smoked a corn cob pipe. This was when Louisa was 5 or 6 years old so Minvera was still alive in 1915 or 1916, Louisa was born in 1910 (Louisa was named after her grandmother Louisa Reynolds Lane)

Dow Reynolds is Minerva's son by Henry Reynolds. My mother can remember Dow in 1946, he came to the funeral of her father Stephen and Dow's half sister Louisa Reynolds Lane (my mother's grandmother and mother to Stephen).
Louisa was the daughter of John H and Minerva Reynolds and my great grand mother, Stephen was my grand father. My great grandmothers' youngest son was named after Dow Reynolds, his name was Dow Bow Lane.

Now Henry Reynolds 1 married Sarah but there is no record of a will or births etc for the rest of his children other than Henry 2 that I have found.

Following is bible records I found on the Russell County Gen web site: (These I did not type, I copied and pasted as they appear on the Web Site)

The above records I got from the Church Of Latter Day Saints and came from Greeneville (Greene County) TN Families moved from TN to Va and VA to TN over and over again around here, but also the state line kept changing. Anyway it may pay off to search some of the older TN records to find your Nancy Jane. Washington County, TN-Greene County, TN-Hawkins County, TN are the oldest records. Sullivan County, TN have old land records but nothing else. During the Civil War the court house was burned but the county clerk had taken the land records home with him and they were saved.

There is one more thing, while I was doing some research on my husbands' family, I came across some information contained in the Job family that made me take notice. The Job family was Quakers and in some of the transcriptions Henry Reynolds and Anne Reynolds were mentioned. These records were in the early 1700's at the Public Meetings of Friends at West Nottingham in Chester County, Pennsylvania. There is a book called Nottingham Quakers 1680-1889 by Alice L Beard 1989. Caleb Job and his family moved to the lower Shenandoah around 1737. So it seems that others could have came also. The book Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia Vol 1 is also quoted in this account as was Pioneers of Old Frederick County Virginia by Cecil O'Dell and Thomas Green Papers, Virginia Historical Society, Richmond, VA. Malinda Rasnick's family came from the Shenandoah Valley so maybe the Reynolds came from there also. All of this is what if's but maybe this is one direction you have not gone.
I will look for the book on Quakers in my local area but I have not seen it yet in my previous research, of course I was not looking for a connection to the Quakers either.

I hope I have gave you some food for thought and maybe the direction you need to go will be in some of this. Good Luck will email again when I get the rest of the info I have from the storage building.

Paula
