I am looking for anyone who may have known or serverd with my Uncle Carl Edward Bowers. He was from Knoxville, Tenn. and enlisted in Knoxville at the age of fifteen in 1948. He received his wings with the 101st Airborne, broke his ankle. He was later sent to the Phillipines and "hunted" Hux, then sent to Japan and joined up with the 8th Engineers. He attended the medics technician school, became a medic and demolition expert.
He was one of the very first to go to Korea when the war started. He said he went all over Korea, even to the Yalu, and was captured by the Chinese and escaped. He received two purple hearts and the Silver Star for helping to knock out three T34 tanks with Daisy Chains. He mentioned seeing Capt. Donald Day step on a buried mortar shell.
He didn't mention many people he served with, but surely someone can remember the services of a medic. He was at the Walled City and was wounded there trying to help another wounded soldier.
