I am going to have to try and create a "new" file for my father who served in Korea. The only info I have is that he signed up with several buddies in Chicago for the USMC.He was at Camp Pendleton, flew a Corsair, was shot down, was first listed as MIA then KIA and found to be a POW. My grandmother had a very hard time finding him in a Naval hospital in Maryland. He had extensive frost bite and facial surgery for this and massive dental reconstruction. He was laid up for several months and was basically listed as a John Doe. His records do NOT exsist. He wouldn't talk about his time in "hell" and now his "memory" is gone. I am trying to put together the pieces for my sons to know. There were only "3" that made it out with my dad "Arthur R. Lepper"; one was a Chinese American whose large family owned a restaurant in downtown Chicago and the other was an African American I only remember mtg once who would also have a son & daughter approx 45 years old now. The guys would have all served in the USMC and would have come from the southside of Chicago 1948 before enlisting. Any veterans from Chicago know ths name "Lepper", who came back to Chicago and used the GI bill to go to school? I appreciate any leads to follow up on such as what unit names to look for etc...a greatful daughter. Thank you Veterans for your time and service to our country.
