Trying to read Air force Discharge Papers
Posted by: Laurie Acuncius (ID *****5674) Date: August 21, 2005 at 17:52:16

I am trying to get information on my father. I have
his discharge papers but I don't understand much of
it.

To start with, my father was in the service from
1951-1954. He was a Sr Crypto Opr. I have records
that indicate he enlisted in Fargo, North Dakota. He
was at Lackland, AFB prior to Warren AFB. He was at FE
Warren AFB, Wyoming at the Air Training Command
training for clerk typist. He completed his course
6/51. Then I have him at Scott AFB, Illinois in a
Crypto Tech course, he completed this course 9/51. I
found a picture of him at Hickam Air Force Base,
Hawaii in October 1951. I know he never was in Korea.

My mom found his eisenhower jacket, but it is missing
everything. I am trying to get what should be on it
and have it framed. The gentleman at the anitque
store, where I found one of the Staff Sargeant
patches, told me that with Dad being a Cryptologist
that he might have worn either a communications pin or
an intelligence pin on his jacket. Would you have any
idea about that?

I am trying to find out what else should be on the
jacket and anything I can learn about what he would
have done.

I have the discharge papers, I just don't understand
all of the abbreviations.

Most significant duty assignment: 1974-3 AACS Det (MATS)

Reason and Authority for separation:
Par2, AFR 39-14, & Hq USAF Msg AFPMP-43C 36424 (conv of Govt)

Would any of this tell what unit he was in?
