Sarah (Salome) Kiser, daughter of Jacob Kiser and granddaughter of Michael Kiser who emigrated from Berks Co., PA to Rockingham Co., VA married John S. Gault in Williamsport MD Feb. 21, 1825. The marriage lience was issued on the Feb. 21 date, and addressed to the Rev. Ruthrauff. The church records do not apparently have a record of their marriage, but anyway, I have a copy of confirmation that Circuit Court for Washington Co., MD certifies their records show this marriage license was issued on aforesaid dates. Has anyone heard of this family? John Gault was a saddlemaker, in addition to later landowner, so he could already have been in Williamsport because there was a huge tannery there. He was born in Lancaster Co., MD 1799. Jacob Kiser was from Berks Co., PA, originally. Any information on Sarah Kiser & John S. Gault appreciated. NOTE: (I think John S. Gault was from famous Gault/Galt family of Lancaster Co., PA that in 1709-10 came to U.S. with a colony of Scots living in Ulster Ireland.) Later John S. & Sarah Gault are found on 1830 census for Rockingham Co., VA--possibly Jacob Kiser's widow, Elizabeth Keisling, lived with them at Mount Crawford. Then John & Sarah emigrated to Saline Co. MO where her older brother, Captain Daniel Kiser had established himself. I have e-mailed Rockingham Co., VA historical or genealogical assoc. at the county seat & no one ever answers.
