I am James Austin Heard of the southern Heard family in the USA. We have not documented our ancestor who left Ireland hurriedly around 1700. There is a slight possibility that he may have been related to the Capt Stephen Heard who supported William, Duke or Prince of Orange in 1689. Legend has it that he was given an estate in Eglish, County Tyrone. Have attempted to locate the old Personnel Records for the British Army with no success. Would appreciate any advice on where to look.
