Elizabeth Keyser (nee Lanning) was one of the daughters of Nathaniel Lanning (B1775 D1859) and his wife Hannah. Elizabeth and Thomas A. Keyser had ten children one of which was named Thomas. I believe that this son Thomas (probably B 2/8/1835) was living in New Jersey with his grandparents Nathaniel and Hannah Lanning at the time of the 1850 census. I also believe that this son Thomas subsequently moved to Logan, Ohio and adopted the name Thomas K. Lanning (B 2/8/1835 D 2/29/1906) and became the founder of my branch of the Lanning family.
I am looking for more background information on Elizabeth and Thomas A. Keyser to see if I can firm up this family connection. We do not have solid information on Thomas K. Lanning’s ancestry prior to his move to Ohio. I do know:
“Nathaniel Lanning, b. in 1775; d. intestate, Warren Co., N.J., and the administration upon his estate was granted 17 Dec 1839 to Jacob Shank. (I believe that this was a typo, and should have been 17 Dec 1859 (PMB)) The Orphans Court of 17 Apr 1860 ordered sale of a 3-acre lot in Harmony Twp., in which Nathaniel Lanning and wife held a life interest by a conveyance from Thomas A. Keyser and wife, dated 23 Mar 1837, and one-fifth of the proceeds to each of
their five heirs, viz. Delilah Metler*, Abigail wife of John Bender, David Lanning, Joseph Lanning, and the ten children of a
deceased daughter Elizabeth Keyser, viz. Henry, Christian, Anna Maria wife of Augustus Curtis, Joseph, George,
Thomas, John, William B., Edward, and Nathaniel Keyser, the last three being under age. Warren Co. Orphans Court
