We have a lost sibling Sarah MELVIN from around Ballina, County Mayo, who m. John KEAN or KANE in Ireland.
There is a record of Kilmoremoy Dioc. RC Baptisms of son John KEAN in 1868, sponsors John J. MELVIN,PP and Elizabeth CONWAY. Daughter Ann KEAN 1870 baptismal sponsors Malachy McCARTHY and Anne MELVIN; parental "father is a bootmaker".
Sarah is again referenced in obituary of her brother Rev. James MELVIN (b. 1850 Ballina, Mayo, d. 1910 Oakland CA) as his sister Sarah KANE in Seattle WA; also siblings Patrick in Iowa, Anne BOYLE in Donegal, and Mary McHUGH in NYC.
Apparently Sarah [MELVIN] KEAN-KANE left Ballina after 1870 and was still alive in 1910 Seattle. Have not found them in 1910 Seattle Census. Please get in touch if anyone known to you. We'd like to track this far-flung family.
