I am trying desperately to find any link to my Great grandfather Hugh Kean. He was born in Kilmarnock Scotland in 1846. His father was James Kean who was a Miner. Hugh had joined the Navy as a painter certainly by the age of 20 and was living in the South of England.I was led to believe the name had been changed and was originally Kane. I have found a reference to a Cecilia M. Kane who lived at Belville Street in Greenock who was in some way related.I have no other information so would love to hear from anyone who may be able to shed some light on this.
