A Cain family from Co Longford now resident in Australia claimed to be related to my uncle Harry Cain. They even used to come down from the country to stay with him on the coast. My family are of Co Galway origin, so this relationship is possible. As I probably said, my DNA matches also include a Kane family from Co Roscommon, in between Co Galway & Co Longford.
Anyway, to answer where you can look next, the website www.familytreedna.com has the basic info on DNA testing, and if you search for and join the Cain DNA project first, you will get a DNA kit at yhe cheaper member's rate ("mate's rates" as we say in Australia!).
