Vivien Jean dit a Privateer ?

Hi: Have any of you ever heard a family legend of sorts that Vivien Jean dit Vien, who was married to Elizabeth Drouet (My ancestors) was a privateer for France at one time? I have heard this from a few older folks in my line and I was wondering if anyone else researching may have heard that. There is no documentation that I know of, although an older distant cousin of mine said that he remembered as a boy visiting some distant relative in Canada with his grandpa and this person had told of this and that he had some paperwork he was showing them. This would have been back in the 30s. Don't know if it's true but it's an interesting legand. Thanks. John Viens
