Janet,

The Jessie Jean that appears in Caswell Co., NC in 1790 married Polly Wyatt in Caswell Co., in 1789. From researching his brother Sherrod/Sherard/Sherod Gean/Jean, we found Jesse down in Wilkes Co., GA.

From Wilkes Co., GA Superior Court Deeds & Mortgages, 1809-1813, Book YY, page 620 - State of Georgia - Know all men by these presents that I Philip Jeans now enlisted in the United States service under the command of Lieutennant Beverly Turpin in Cavalry of the United States for the term of five year, do for certain reasons give unto Jesse Jeans of this county or his heirs all the Landed Bounty promised to me by the authority of the United States for my services for five years as aforesaid, provided I may decease before the five years for which I am enlisted this deed of gift is at my sole dispsal given under my hand and seal this 20th day of July 1812 - Signed by his mark Philip "X" Jeans - Wit: Charles Smith, Ben. M. Laughlin and Stephen Graham - Recorded 27 Jan 1813 {{The next questions is - is this Jesse's father Philip? or was there another brother living there named Philip?}}

Then in 1814 a Peter Strozier was appt. temporary Admin in the estate of Jesse Jeans, dec'd.

This Jesse should not be confused with the Jesse Jean of Chatham Co., NC, who's wife and children also eventually moved to GA (after his decease and his wife's re-marriage).

~Melinda
