A Philip Jean married to Mourning lived in Chatham Co., NC during the Rev. War. Philip was killed in the War. Mourning is in the 1790 Census. In the Chatham Co Court Minutes for 1781-1792, a Lewis Kirk came into court to ask for two orphans to be bound to him...William and John Jean. He took them to Orange Co. In the 1810 Census NC a William Jean is in Orange Co and a John is in Haywood Co. I believe, that this Jean family came from Northampton Co., NC, earlier. In about 1787, a Jean who married a Lea from Orange Co came to Wilkes Co., GA.
